Returning to your hometown is something incredibly special—the familiar streets, the cozy spots that hold countless memories, and, most importantly, the family and friends who make coming home feel so wonderful. My recent visit was a trip down memory lane, filled with laughter, love, and a deep sense of belonging.
Memories not forgotten
Playing field hockey was one of the most cherished parts of my high school years. Our team was more than just a group of players; we were a family. The memories of practicing together, supporting each other, and pushing our limits under the guidance of our amazing coach are etched in my heart. Winning the state championship (undefeated) remains one of the highlights, but it wasn't just about the victory. It was about the journey, the teamwork, and the collective effort that led us to success. These experiences taught me invaluable lessons about dedication, resilience, and the power of working together toward a common goal.
These lessons didn't stay on the field; they followed me into every aspect of my life. The discipline and determination I learned from my field hockey days (Olympic Camps, College D1, and High School) became the foundation of my approach to business, life, and publishing endeavors. Striving to do my best, no matter the challenge has always been a guiding principle that I carry with me.
Inspired by these experiences and the desire to pass on these values, I wrote my eighth children's book about sportsmanship through a field hockey story. My goal was to create a story that teaches kids about playing a sport that instills the importance of teamwork, respect, and perseverance. These lessons are crucial for children, helping them grow into well-rounded individuals ready to face life's challenges head-on.
Visiting my hometown reminded me of where it all began. Seeing my family and friends has always been my anchor, and the memories of playing field hockey continue to inspire me. Through my book, I hope to share these inspirations with the next generation, encouraging them to embrace teamwork and sportsmanship in all their endeavors.
Coming home is always a beautiful reminder of my roots and the incredible journey that has shaped who I am today.
